Please join us on Monday, August 31, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. for a presentation by Dr. Emily Smith from Duke University. This event is open to faculty, staff, students, and the public; no registration is required. Dr. Smith will be presenting on her global health research.
Dr. Emily Smith is an epidemiologist who has conducted research around the world as it relates to global health policy and children's global surgery and cancer. Dr. Smith also frequently talks about the COVID-19 pandemic through the lens of "love-thy-neighbor" on social media and her Substack blog with a monthly reach of 2-4 million in 160+ countries. Her work has been featured in TIME Magazine, NPR, and the Washington Post, among others.
