Move-In Day | First-Year Students

Students will have a twenty-minute move-in window to complete the check in process, unload their vehicle and move their car to a residential parking lot. They can then return to their room to unpack and decorate as needed. 

Students will receive an email on or before August 1, 2026 with information about the move in process and instructions to select a move in slot. If for any reason your schedule has changed after making your selection, you will have up until August 14, 2026 to cancel your original time and reselect a new move-in slot. The deadline of August 14th ensures we will have ample time to prepare your check-in packets based on your selected time of arrival. If extenuating circumstances arise, such as flight delays, inclement weather, or you are just unable to arrive during your selected move in time slot; please email housing@drake.edu. 

For those students unable to move-in on August 19, please contact the Office of Residence Life at housing@drake.edu to schedule an alternative move-in time with staff. 
 

Reminders about move in:

• Handcarts/dollies are not provided, so please bring one if you think it would be helpful.
• Please label your boxes/property with your name and hall of assignment.
• There will be staff to greet you and let you know your students room number.
• The twenty-minute window is the time for you to get all the items out of your vehicle so we can make room for others to park near the residence hall as well. There are no time limits on families helping you get your room set up!
